It's Who we Are, Not What we Do
By Isabel Alvarez Arata
I recently saw a graphic on social media stating “It’s who we are, not what we do” and thought, welp, that’s pretty much how it works around here. The Wag Pack was started out of my very own need for quality pet care and reliable service coupled with the desire for seamless scheduling and flexibility. Here we are, almost 12 years later, doing exactly what I set out to do: doing it our [improved] way and putting our hearts and souls into it.
Managing The Wag Pack is still one of the best parts of my day. I love communicating with existing clients, engaging new clients, interviewing potential candidates, and assisting staff with their questions or concerns. Whether it be a special request made by a client, a scheduling question from an employee, or a pet-specific concern, I am genuinely happy to help in any way that I can.
I’ve been fortunate to find fellow managers and employees that feel the same way. We are wholeheartedly committed to our clients and the pets in our care and it shows. Our employees’ employment with The Wag Pack may start off as a part-time gig: sometimes after retirement, around parenting schedules, and even in addition to their full-time employment, but it turns into much more than that once they get a taste for the importance of the care we provide.
We’ve had employees join the team hoping to simply supplement their income every so often who eventually ask for more work, more consistency because they enjoy their pet care visits more than they ever imagined. We pride ourselves on hiring only the most dedicated, caring individuals and training them to be extraordinary pet sitters and we’ve spent the part 11+ years doing exactly that.
I couldn’t be more proud of the work that we do and the people we’ve brought into our Pack over the years – clients and sitters alike. I look at the words “It’s who we are, not what we do,” and am encouraged to enter the next decade surrounded by our awesome team, serving amazing Northern Virginia clients, and caring for pets that bring endless fulfillment to our lives.
Our work at The Wag Pack is way more than just a job, it’s an integral part of who we are, speaks to the kind of people that we are, and it’s an honor to get to do it every single day.
